The power of blogging…and chocolate

In my barely-awake stupor this morning, I stumbled down to my renewed-favorite corner coffee counter, Full City. Renewed #1 because I just received two gift cards, and #2 because I really like the morning gals who work there. They’re just friendly in the not-too-annoying-first-thing-in-the-morning-before-I’ve-had-my-coffee kind of way. And they’re always trying to get me to change up my drink du jour - nonfat latte with one raw sugar. It’s hard to give up the comfort of my favorite hot beverage, but this morning I did. I tried an iced cold-water extract. And you know what? It was fabulous. I recommend it.

Anyway, that’s not the purpose of this blog post. On my way out the door, I hear someone calling me from across the street. Guess who it was? Deborah Chapman, owner of Tin Woodsman Pewter Company and the upcoming Crosby & Taylor. Her graphic designer, Amy Miller, has a business partner, Kelli Mathews, who saw my blog post and told Deborah about it. She came by to thank me and give me some of that chocolate I wrote about. I love blogging. And I love the chocolate even more.

I promised to tell you about the chocolate once I tried it. I only had one small piece and it melted so delicately in my mouth. I savored every second. And it lived up to its hype. Wow, there’s no chocolate in America that compares to that. It’s called Cote d’Or from Belgium. Here’s a quote from their site

“Belgians consume more cocoa per capita than any other people on earth - 10 times more than the world average. It’s no surprise given the exceptional quality of the chocolate they’re accustomed to eating.”

Guess who’ll be buying some chocolate when she stops in Zurich on her way to Israel?

Hi Dana,

I love blogging, too! It was fun to read your post about TW and even more fun to share it with Deborah. Although I didn’t get any chocolates out of the deal ;)

Kelli - I should have saved you some chocolate … but I didn’t. Sorry! Hmmm, maybe Deborah has some more. It was really good. :}

Hey, can you tell me Allison Blass’ speaking schedule and whether I or someone from my office can come see her present? I think it’s great that you’re bringing her in. You know, her and I had a mentor relationship the last two years she was in Eugene? I often wonder who was mentoring whom. :}

Did you hear that we’re hiring Sara Szatmary as a paid intern for the summer? Do you know her? We’re hoping she transitions into an Account Coordinator in the fall.

Keep up the good work with those J-School students!

Thanks Kelli. I got it. Allison’s great and I’m so proud of her. She’s my social media hero. I’ll definitely be at one of her presentations. And her and I will meet up for some kind of food or beverage.
