Israel Day Four

I didn’t get much sleep last night, but feel pretty good. All that rich food last night didn’t settle too well with me. What can I expect?

We started the day with the hotel’s brunch. Alise recommended it (see previous post), so I was excited to try it. Lots of choices. I stayed pretty healthy. Had a variety of salads. I like noticing the subtle flavors of each - little lemon w/ rind thrown in here and there, strategically used olives and olive oil, etc. I’m loving the bread here. This morning was something like a wheat sourdough with nuts and raisins. That combined with a couple different Israeli cheeses and figs was absolutely delicious. And I was happy to find that cappuccinos are included. The cappuccinos here are more like lattes, but that’s just fine with me. Good, strong espresso. Good breakfast.

We ate in a great outdoor eating area at the hotel. It overlooks the Old City at the Jaffa Gate. Just inside, is an indoor foyer with the same view and an semi-outdoor feel. It’s decorated well with white orchids and big vases full of while roses. It’s become my favorite spot in this hotel. I predict I’ll be spending a lot of time in these two areas.

For the benefit of the First Placers following this blog, I want to talk about my eating. I have been trying a lot new foods, but I have been maintaining a good daily food intake and calorie level. I’ve resisted the temptation to finish everything that has been put in front of me, so I’ve been able to try a lot of things without eating it all. I think it’s been a good balance. I’ve also maintained my daily bible study and prayer time, so far. Thanks for your prayers. I appreciate them greatly.

Today. we’re headed for Yad Vesham, a highly regarded holocaust museum. Alise says you can’t spend too much time here so I’m glad I’ll get there twice on this trip. Wendy and Harrison are leaving before the bigger group gets there next week, so we’re going with them.

The rest of the family arrives tonight and then our official tour and schedule will begin.

Still having trouble with flckr, but I’ll work on more photos tonight.
